From its inception, this Los Angeles public branch library was intended to be a demonstration project on sustainable building features. The project was collaboration between GreenWorks Studio and Harley Ellis Devereaux.

- Over 75 percent of construction waste was diverted from landfills into the recycling market
- Passive cooling tower conditions the interior space
- Light shelves, louvers, overhangs, and skylights provide high-quality glare-free daylight
- Recycled content building materials
- Photovoltaic cells provide about 15% of the building’s estimated regulated electricity use for two years
